About Waldorf Dolls

A Waldorf Doll (also called Steiner Doll) is a form of doll used in Waldorf education. They are traditionally made natural materials, having interlock cotton as skin and wool as stuffing and hair. They originate from Europe and their appearance is simple which allows a child’s imagination to strengthen and improve creativity. They originally had no facial expression, but most Waldorf doll makers prefer to add eyes, nose and mouth. They tend to be dressed simply and fastened so that little hands can easily dress and undress them. We use mohair for the hair of the dolls which can be straight or boucle and has been spun and dyed here in the UK.

Being stuffed with lambs wool makes these doll’s a real comforter as they pick up household smells and this can help reassure a child in times of need.
